A GANG of yobs are terrorising a family making them scared to leave the house.

Gary MacDonald, 47, from Shoebury, has had ongoing issues with a group of yobs for more than two years and claims his life is being ruined and the problems are being ignored.

The problems began when the teenagers began climbing up onto Mr MacDonald’s roof and running up and down it.

Last weekend he confronted the gang of eight and in response he was threatened by the gang who have taken over the area.

The father-of-three said: “The roof is really echoey and we have a skylight in the toilet, so when they run up and down it makes so much noise.

“I have phoned the police so many times now but they just don’t do anything.

“By the time they do come, the kids have gone and the police just have a quick look around and get back in their cars and drive off.

“They have never even taken a statement.

“It just feels like a complete waste of time.

“Now it has got to the point where I have been threatened by one of them, it’s taken this to a whole new level.

“We are scared to even leave the house now.

“I know they are only kids but when there is a group of eight of them - these days you just don’t know what they are going to do or what they might have on them.”

Mr MacDonald, who lives with his partner and three teenage daughters, says he can regularly smell the strong odour of cannabis when the group are hanging around by the stairs.

“I haven’t got a problem with them being on the stairs I just want them to stay off the roof and not smoke wacky backy because it stinks,” he added.

“We’ve now even got cracks on the ceiling.

“They know they can get away with it.

“They know no one does anything to stop them.

“It’s worse in the summer as it’s literally all the time.

“My daughters are also worried.”

The Echo asked Essex Police for a response but none was received before the paper went to press.
