Colchester Council launches survey on town centre car parks

Parking officers from North Essex Parking Partnership, who manage the council’s car parks, and street ambassadors from Our Colchester will be out and about in town centre car parks until Saturday asking drivers to complete the survey in exchange for a free car parking stay.

The survey focuses on how and why drivers use the car parks in Colchester and the experience they have, including value for money, special offers, MiPermit payment options, access and lighting.

It also gives people the chance to comment on whether they would like to see electric vehicle charging points installed and areas of the car parks they feel could be developed to make the car parks better.

Mike Lilley (Lab) councillor responsible for planning and public safety, said: “We are carrying out this survey because we want to build a better picture of exactly how and why people use our town centre car parks, alongside how easy it is to pay, whether they know about special offers and what improvements they would like to see.

“This is all valuable information that will help us to develop parking in the town centre and shape future polices, making a Better Colchester.”

Survey dates are: Butt Road Car Park on Monday, 9am until noon and Tuesday, 1pm until 4pm

St John’s Car Park on Monday, 1pm to 4pm, Tuesday, 1pm to 3pm and February 2, 8.30am to 10.30am

St Mary’s Car Park on Monday and Tuesday from noon until 2pm and February 2 from 10am until noon

Vineyard Street Car Park this Saturday, from 2pm to 4pm, Monday from 1pm to 3pm, and February 1 and 2 from noon until 2pm

Britannia Car Park on February 1 and 2 from 3pm until 5pm

Priory Street Car Park this Saturday from 10am until noon, Monday from 9am until 11am and February 1 and 2 from 9am until 11am

Middleborough Car Park on Monday and Tuesday from 8am until 10am.

The survey is also available online, but the free parking offer does not apply to the online survey.
