ITV crews are set to descend on Billericay, after boss Glenn Tamplin revealed they will be filming a documentary on the club - starting today.

Details of the documentary are few and far in between at this stage, but it is believed to be following the club's journey from the unknown, to the publicity machine they are seen as today, as they push for promotion from the National League South.

Controversial chief Tamplin has teased the documentary to fans for several months, but confirmed in a series of tweets that filming would begin today.

The multi-millionaire has invested heavily since taking over the club in December 2016 - with major investment in the ground as well as making a series of high profile signings.

On Tuesday he tweeted: "Get your best clobber on and get yourselves over the AGP arena Saturday ITV filming first episode of our Billericay tv series that I been promising Starts Saturday be there get on TV 3pm kick off AGP Arena More great things happening at Billericay Town FC #TogetherWeSailAsOne"

A later tweet insisted this was an excellent move for the club.

It said: "This is a great move for revenue. We will get known nationally and people will see how special our club is and we will gain more fans and more support equaling more revenue this is huge for our club".

A number of fans bit back at Tamplin, questioning whether this would be a distraction during mid-season, and querying whether it could be completed during the summer.

But Tamplin replied saying: "There is full focus this will not effect the team in anyway shape or form.

"Priority is our performance the tv show will go on the side without affecting our promotion push. Promotion is our target".

Billericay have attracted plenty of headlines since Tamplin bought the club, with former Premier League players Paul Konchesky, Jermaine Pennant and Jamie O'Hara all having had spells at New Lodge.

Tamplin had a spell as manager in the 2017/18 season which saw the players sing R Kelly's 'The World's Greatest' in the changing room, a video that went viral, and him leave a game at Hendon 20 minutes early to attend a business meeting.

He also drew attention for having the dressing room decorated as an animal kingdom, and wrapping his Ferrari in Billericay colours.
