A THUG threatened to stab a man with autism on a train.

The victim, who had been on a day out with his girlfriend, had earlier posted a picture of some roses, which he had planned to give her for an early Valentines Day present.

After having a lovely day, the 29-year-old made his way home on a C2C train from Southend.

Onboard, he was approached by someone asking if he had any weed. When he replied “no”, he was threatened by the thug, who said he would stab him.

Terrified, the young man took to the C2C Customers Facebook Group for help.

Fellow users came to his rescue, replying to his post telling him to stay calm, move and report the incident to the British Transport Police.

One member even contacted C2C and arranged for a member of staff and security officers to meet him when he arrived at Grays station. Another directed him to a group which supports people with autism

C2C staff helped calm him, giving him somewhere to sit and have a drink. They also helped report the incident to the police.

The victim said: “I was shaking a lot even when I got off at Grays station.

“They gave me a cup of water, a chair to sit down on and put on the outdoor heater to keep me warm. They took my details and I spoke to the British Transport Police and I got home about near 9.30pm.”

Later, the man updated fellow C2C users, assuring them he was home safe and thanked them for their support.

A spokesperson from the British Transport Police said: “Officers are currently investigating an attempted robbery on board a train towards Grays. The incident was reported to BTP shortly before 9pm on Wednesday. There are no reported injuries.

“Officers are appealing for any witnesses to contact BTP by sending a text to 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 621 of 13/02/2019.”

A spokesperson from C2C said: “We understand what a scary incident this was for our passenger and we’re sorry they experienced this on one of our trains. When we spotted the Facebook post we arranged for a member of our staff to meet the customer on their arrival.
