Police want to speak to this man in connection with a burglary which saw hundreds of pounds taken from a 97-year-old woman.

Detectives say two men knocked at the victim’s door in the Moss Drive area of Vange, claiming some gardening needed to be carried out.

The pair then let themselves into the house and left with a bank card, which was later used to withdraw a hundreds of pounds.

The incident took place on Saturday, January, 12.

Anyone with information is asked to call Basildon CID on 101 quoting reference 42/6481/19.

Officers have issued this advice to homeowners: “Most people who call at your home will be genuine but it’s important to be on your guard and remember there are bogus callers about.

“Always check the caller is who they say they are before letting them in. If you have any suspicions, don’t let them into your property. Remember not to leave doors open and unattended.

“And if you need to have work carried out, get a number of quotes and contact a Buy With Confidence accredited trader.”
