A ROBBER stole thousands of pounds from a man during a daylight robbery.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the robbery at roughly 2.20pm today.

A man was sat parked in his car in Furtherwick Road when another man jumped in before threatening and punching him.

The suspect then ran off with thousands of pounds in cash.

Police have described the attack as targeted, insisting there is no threat to the wider public.

He has been described as being of mixed heritage, aged in his late, 20s, around 5ft 10ins, of a medium build with black hair.

He wore a black leather jacket, jeans and trainers.

Detective Sergeant Christopher Arnold, of Basildon CID, said: “We are treating this as a targeted attack and don’t believe there is any wider risk to the public.

“We have been carrying out enquiries at the scene and we have spoken to residents nearby.

“We would encourage people who live in the area to check their back gardens to see if anything has been disposed.

“We would also urge anyone with information or dash cam footage is to call Basildon CID on 101 quoting incident 668 of 15/12 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
