A woman has been left injured after being hit by a vehicle.

The crash happened in Rayleigh High Street at about 2.15pm today.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 2.10pm with reports of a crash in High Street, Rayleigh.

"We sent an ambulance, rapid response vehicle and rapid response vehicle.

"Crews are still at the scene."

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called to reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in Rayleigh High Street at 2.15pm on Friday, February 22.

"It is not believed the pedestrian, a woman, has been seriously injured.

"The driver of the vehicle has been reported.

"If you have any information about the incident please call us on 101 quoting incident 710 of February 22."
