A TEENAGER was rushed to hospital and left feeling paralysed after allegedly having her drink spiked at a club.
Molly O’Brien was at Unit 7, Festival Leisure Park, Basildon, when she believes a drug was dropped into her drink.
It caused her to feel slightly paralysed and suffer from impaired vision.
She was rushed to Basildon Hospital and put on a drip to rehydrate her body and flush the pill from her system.
She remained in hospital for monitoring for five hours.
The 19-year-old, from Langdon Hills, has since taken to Facebook to tell her story. Her post has been shared more than 7,400 times.
In her post, she said: “I wouldn’t usually share this type of post but I feel like it’s necessary. The most scary thing about this, is that it took someone a matter of seconds to slip something in my drink without me even noticing, putting me at such risk.
“I couldn’t stand up, see properly or concentrate and all my limbs were completely numb.”
She added: “My heart was all over the place and I was even unable to communicate at one point.
“Please share to let people know the risk and dangers of this happening.”
Her mum, Dawn O’Brien said her daughter is still feeling the affects of the ‘spiking’.
She told the Echo: “I called the police because she was in such a bad state.
“I said it needed to be reported and we need more awareness of this.
“She kept her drink all the time. We think it was the date rape drug.
“She started to feel paralysed and her vision was a bit bleary.”
She added: “The medics and bouncers at the club were fantastic and she was taken out of the club.
“She was feeling sick and her chest and throat were hurting for a few days after.”
A spokesman for Unit 7 said: "Our number one priority is providing a safe and fun place for our customers to enjoy a night out. Our medical team assisted two female customers on Friday night and we have since received thanks from one parent for the support that was provided.”
