A MAN has been arrested after a snare by a paedophile hunter group.

A live-stream circulated by Team Impact on Facebook on Saturday night saw a group of the action group attempting to confront a man in Shoebury.

The group, who also called police to the address, claimed the man had attempted to groom a 14-year-old girl online and offer money for sexual activity.

Team Impact did not manage to confront the man during the live stream, and were met by the man's parents outside the property.

Essex Police have confirmed a man was arrested in relation to the sting operation.

A spokesman said: "A 31-year-old man from Benfleet was arrested in Shoebury on suspicion of sexual grooming on Saturday March 2.

"He was released on bail until March 27 while our enquiries continue."

The incident was the second in the space of a week where a sting operation resulted in an arrest.

Secret Whispers UK on Wednesday morning confronted a man in a car park in Dovercliff Road, Canvey, before police arrived and made the arrest.

The man, from Leigh, was arrested and bailed until March 20.
