THE family of a young boy with an extremely rare cancer have launched a bid to raise £200,000 to pay for his lifesaving treatment.

Connor Wright, 12, from Basildon, has a cancer so rare it does not even have a name.

It has taken hold in his abdomen and liver.

He has been undergoing stem cell treatment at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital but now he has been told that the doctors can do nothing further for him.

His family have now turned to the public for help to raise £200,000 to get Connor treatment from abroad so he can live a long, happy life.

In a post on Facebook, Connor’s sister Molly Wright said her brother was “a superhero”, but the family are nearly out of options.

She said: “For the past three most unimaginable years Connor has been diagnosed with such a unique cancer, that in fact it has no name.

“Throughout this time, I have witnessed him become such a strong superhero, battling whatever came in his way. He is such an inspiration.

“However now, we really need your help as we have unfortunately started to run out of options, which is why we need you all to help us spread the awareness, so we can reach our goal and to create a future for my little brother.

“Please share, please like and comment, to create the awareness this would mean a great deal for me and my family.”

The Echo reported in November that many people had sent dozens of positive and uplifting cards to Connor while he underwent stem cell treatment.

This treatment sadly did not help Connor, whose cancer is still present.

A Go Fund Me page set up by Connor’s family on March 7 has already raised more than £4,000.

His family wrote on the page: “Connor always remains positive throughout everything he has been put through and still carries on being the strong upbeat little boy that he is. He makes us smile every day.

“To this day his cancer still has no name. To this day there is still no cure.

“We are now looking into treatment abroad for someone who could assist us further with any other options. We are looking to CURE and not prolong.

“We are now reaching out to you all, please help us to reach our target and give Connor the chance which he deserves.”
