A MAN who was assaulted in Southend suffered a stab wound, the ambulance service has confirmed.

Police and ambulance crews were spotted attending an address in Southchurch Avenue at approximately 12.15pm on Sunday afternoon.

Essex Police confirmed they attended the scene and that a man in his 40s was taken to hospital.

A spokesman said: “We were contacted at 12.15pm on March 10 following reports a man had been assaulted and injured at a property in Southchurch Avenue, Southend “A man in his 40s was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital for treatment.

“A 42 year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and is currently in custody.

"An investigation into the incident is underway."

Police did not share the details of the assault, but the East of England Ambulance Service confirmed this morning the man had been stabbed.

A spokesman said: "We were called at 12.11pm on March 10 with reports of a person with a stab wound in Southchurch Avenue.

"We sent an ambulance, ambulance officer and a rapid response vehicle.

"One patient was taken to hospital for further treatment."
