THE FAMILY of a missing woman have rallied up a team of volunteers to carry out a search for her.

More than 20 people joined Andrea Gharsallah on Saturday to look for clues that would lead to Georgina, who has been missing from her Worthing home for more than a year.

Despite the family’s repeated media appeals, there are still no clues to explain Georgina’s sudden disappearance.

Recently, the family has set up a Facebook group, ERVS Search for Georgina, to enlist the help of volunteers to search for Georgina.

Mrs Gharsallah said: “The support from everyone has been amazing. Twenty-two volunteers came and did a search around Brooklands Pleasure Park.

"We plan to look around the Worthing areas, and gradually narrow down a place or places where she may have been. We will also search deserted places and also areas that lead out of Worthing.

“We have spoken to Sussex Police and they did not object to our search. I can’t be sitting around and doing nothing, Georgina is out there somewhere.

“There were other volunteers who have experience in major searches. I am very thankful to everyone who joined the search and those who signed up to help.

"I also want to thank Chris Puller, who is experienced in emergency searches, for leading and helping to organise the search."

Georgina, 31, was last seen in Worthing on the morning of March 7 last year. She was reported missing by her family ten days later.

On April 20 a witness reported seeing two men who were allegedly spotted speaking to Georgina in Tarring Road, at the junction with Clifton Road, between 7pm and 8pm.

The family said they were previously given several hypotheses on her disappearance, including suicide, trafficking, being held against her will or murder.

Mrs Gharsallah added: “So far we haven’t planned where and when the next search is.

“We hold meetings to discuss where we can look. It’s nice to know that many people do care what happened. One lady said to me she would want this much help if one of her family members went missing.”

To join the search, go to ERVS Search for Georgina on Facebook to sign up. Investigating officer Simon Dunn from Sussex Police said: “A police search advisor (PolSA) has been attached to the investigation team throughout this enquiry. Many premises have been searched in accordance with information known about Georgina.

“The search strategy has always focused on information that can be linked to Georgina and her lifestyle at the time of her disappearance.

“The senior investigating officer has always kept the search strategy under constant review and will assess any new information.”
