A man has avoided prison after assaulting a woman and breaking her glasses.

Connor Sleeman, 18, of Harty Close, Grays, was accused of assaulting a woman and breaking her glasses and a light switch at a location on Canvey on March 28 of this year.

Sleeman admitted two counts of criminal damage and one count of assault when he appeared at Southend Magistrates' Court on April 17.

He was handed a community order which requires him to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work as well as pay £200 compensation, £85 in victim surcharges and £85 in costs.
