A FLOTILLA of yellow plastic ducks floated along a scenic river to raise money for Girl Guides.

The popular Dedham Duck Race sees spectators pay £1 for a duck before huge tubs of the plastic fowl are tipped off the bridge into the River Stour.

They then float majestically along the river which was immortalised by artist John Constable.

The winning duck was number 144 with the successful owner claiming £50 winnings.

Michelle Stimpson, of 1st Lawford Guides, thanked volunteers who ensured the race went ahead.

It raised £483 which will be used by Manningtree District Girl Guiding unit towards helping to pay for storage for guiding equipment.

Lawford Guides raised £99 through cake sales on the day.
