MIKAEL Mandron will be leaving Colchester United this summer, after he was released by the club.

Mandron, 24, spent two years at Colchester after joining them from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2017.

The Frenchman made 95 league and cup appearances for the U's, scoring 12 times.

Last summer, he was linked with a move to League One outfit Peterborough United and Dutch club FC Utrecht.

Ryan Gondoh will also be leaving Colchester, this summer.

The 21-year-old, who spent the second half of the season on loan at National League side FC Halifax, made eight league and cup appearances for the U's after joining them from Maldon and Tiptree in January, 2018.

However, the former Barnet youngster only managed one start for the U's during his time at the JobServe Community Stadium.

U's head coach John McGreal said: “The players are in for such a short time and it is club decisions.

“It’s nothing personal against them – it’s just business and football.

“When you look up and down the country at some of the names being released you think ‘wow’ but it just happens in football.

“Players do move on pretty quickly in football and they’ve all agents, these days."

Colchester have stated that all of their other out of contract players have been offered new deals, this summer, including those with club-led options on their contracts.
