KINMEL Bay has been put on the map as the home to the 'most wanted salon' in Wales.

The team of Kimmy Roberts Hair and Beauty Lounge, on Foryd Road, have walked away with the "most prestigious award" have won the top award at the Welsh Hair and Beauty Awards at Cardiff City Stadium.

Owner Kimmy Roberts, originally of Salford, said: "I still can't believe we won it - it doesn't feel real.

"All through the evening, with the other awards, they called out the runners up first and brought their certificates to their tables.

"When they got to 'The Most Wanted Salon in Wales' at the end, which the host said was "the most prestigious award that every salon wants', they called out our name.

"However, unlike the other awards they just read out our name so I didn't even think to get up - it was quite overwhelming."

Following the event, Kimmy and her team - which included Holly Taylor, Naomi McGregor, Ellie Piercy and Kimberley Roberts - were welcomed into the VIP section of Cardiff nightclub Tiger Tiger.

As well as earning top honours, Kimmy took the opportunity to rub shoulders with fellow top stylists from across the country and promote her Cutting Out Domestic Abuse campaign, which aims to train stylists to recognise signs of abuse.

Kimmy, who is also a champion for the White Ribbon charity, added: "We were so lucky, when I was speaking to some salon owners from Cardiff, the host for evening Polly James from Capital FM South Wales was listening to my conversation.

"She then came over to me and spoke to me about giving Cutting Out Domestic Abuse a shout out. It's gotten us so much more engagement on our social media page and so many more people wanting to get involved.

"It's been such a fantastic experience. Because we're from such a small town, you don't hear much new from Kinmel Bay. Now we've got some good news. it was just perfect."

Kimmy will host her first free seminar for Cutting Out Domestic Abuse - supported by North Wales Police - at Rhyl Golf Club on July 8 at 10am, and is open to all hair and beauty professionals. For more information, contact the salon on 01745 344259.
