CHILDREN at a Rhyl primary school have been learning breathing techniques and more to help cope with challenging situations.
Year five pupils at Christchurch County Primary School have been busy promoting a positive mindset this year with displays throughout the school and more to encourage mindfulness as part of the New Curriculum for Wales.
Head teacher Bethan Lindquist said: "At Christchurch school we focus greatly on positive mindset with our pupils. We encourage and teach our pupils how to be positive, independent, confident and resilient individuals.
"The displays around our school promote positive mindset and remind our pupils that challenging ourselves and overcoming problems is good and part of every day life. "
Pupils have also been engaged in 'Go Noodle' activities, which encourage movement during lesson time to help keep them engaged and motivated, have been doing a 'daily mile' around the school yard and have been participating in mindfulness sessions.
Mrs Lindquist added: "The sessions are also impacting positively on our pupils, as they learn certain breathing techniques and strategies to cope with different situation and challenges they may face."
