MEMBERS of a disability club night who get together to dance to the music of live bands or indeed take to the stage to perform themselves, decided that it was their turn to help other people in need this week, when they raised money and goods for the homeless.

Essex based music service Therapy In Musical Expression, known as TIME, conduct the club night - dubbed Involve - every Monday at The Edge Bar in High Pavement, Basildon.

Involve focuses on social inclusion and creative expression and regularly attracts over 100 attendees.

Marc Barnacle, who is one of the founders of the TIME organisation, said: "This week's £3 entrance fee was removed and club goers were instead asked to provide food and toiletry items, which would then be donated to local homeless charity - HARP.

"The event was a huge success, with the wonderfully generous attendees coming armed with a wide of variety items. They also raised £100 in the process, which has been supplied to the charity for them to purchase further provisions.

"Jo Dear, from Leigh, who is the volunteer co-ordinator of HARP, was also present at the event. She provided a short speech detailing HARP's activities and was overwhelmed by the amount of donations supplied. Some of the Involve attendees enquired about volunteering after learning of HARP's services.

"The night was a great example of those in need helping others who require support."
