DETECTIVES are continuing to search two properties following the discovery of alleged firearms and ammunition.

Officers have been searching a bungalow in London Road, Copford, and a house in High Dickson Road, Colchester, since Tuesday.

Essex Police have confirmed they are likely to be stationed at both properties until further notice whilst work continues.

A spokesman said: "We do not believe that there is any risk to the wider public at this time."

A 71-year-old man from Copford has been released on bail until July 9 after being arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and possession of an offensive weapon.
