FOODBANK volunteers are asking keen bakers to whip up some cakes for a fundraising event.

Brightlingsea Foodbank runs a fundraising tea tent at the Brightlingsea Free Music Festival every year.

Volunteers are hosting the tent for the third time between August 2 to 4 at Hurst Green, Brightlingsea.

They have the tea in hand but need plenty of homemade cakes to sell over the weekend.

Win Pomroy, who co-ordinates Brightlingsea Foodbank Volunteers, said: “We are grateful to the music festival organisers for enabling us to have this tea tent again.

“In previous years it has raised a total of £2,600 which has been shared equally between the foodbank and the music festival itself.”

“This success is all thanks to the wonderful home-made cakes people have given to us, the volunteers who serve them and the customers who enjoy them.

“With the festival coming up soon, it is time to call on the generosity of keen baking fans to see if they can rustle up some tasty treats for us again.

“We welcome cakes of all kinds including vegetarian and vegan ones.”

Brightlingsea Foodbank opens every Wednesday between 10.30am and 12.30pm at the Parish Hall in Victoria Place, Brightlingsea.
