A MAN accused of stabbing a teenager with a cut-throat razor in Southend claims he only punched his victim.

Ryan Tudor, 26, is on trial after one person was robbed and another slashed by a cut-throat razor in September last year.

At Chelmsford Crown Court yesterday, Richard Kelly, prosecuting, told a jury that a man, Oman Rashid, had been hit in the face multiple times after having money stolen shortly after 1.15am on September 19 when he was followed from a cash point by a man on a bicycle.

He told the court: “Mr Rashid was grabbed by the collar from behind and spun around so he was facing his attacker, who yelled: ‘Give me what you’ve got or I’ll stab you’. He then took his mobile phone, £20 and his bank card.

“But this wasn’t enough for this man, who then punched Mr Rashid three to four times in the face causing a deep cut below his eye.”

The second incident saw Jake Lonergan-Johnson, 19, attacked by a man with a cut-throat razor outside a block of flats on London Road on September 24, suffering cuts to his head and body.

The attacker was chased and later tasered by police officers after he threw the weapon on top of a building.

Mr Kelly said: “The defendant said it was not him who attacked Mr Rashid on September 19, and that on September 24 he only punched Mr Lonergan-Johnson, and was not carrying a weapon.

“The prosecution will make you sure that he was the person who cut him, and that he did it to cause GBH and that the cut throat razor was in his possession.”

Tudor, of Kilworth Avenue, Southend is charged with robbery, wounding with intent to cause GBH and possessing a cut throat razor.

He denies all charges.

The trial, expected to last until Thursday, continues.
