STARS of the stage and screen plus sporting legends will be attending a glitzy dinner for a mental health charity.

Mid and North East Essex Mind, based in Colchester, is hosting its inaugural gala dinner at the Jobserve Community Stadium.

Some names on the guest list include England goalkeeping legend Peter Shilton and his wife, Steph, former professional boxer and world welterweight champion, John H Stracey, variety performer Duncan Norvelle and actor and singer Jess Conrad OBE, best known for his roles in The Boys, Rag Doll and Konga during the 1960s, will attend to complete the list of celebrities.

Jess was recognised in the Queen’s Honours for his services to charity in 2011.

Stephanie Mills, marketing and fundraising manager for Mid and North East Essex Mind, said: “We are thrilled so many celebrities and sporting heroes will be joining us to mark World Mental Health Day this year.

“We have some top class entertainment lined up and fantastic hospitality thanks to Colchester United Football Club.

“The money we raise at the gala dinner will support children and adults living with a mental health problem across Colchester, Tendring and mid Essex.”

The event takes place on October 10 with dinner, music and entertainment.
