AN MP met with the mayor of his constituency’s American namesake.
James Cleverly met with mayor of Braintree, Massachusetts, Joseph Sullivan, at the Houses of Parliament.
More than 3,000 miles separate the two towns.
Mr Cleverly posted on Facebook: “Huge welcomes to Joe Sullivan, mayor of Braintree, Massachusetts to Parliament on Reserve Armed Forces Day.
“Joe Sullivan has been the executive mayor for 12 years and hosted me when I visited Boston in 2016.
“His visit coincided with Reserve Forces Day which is why I was in my uniform as a Lt Colonel in the Royal Artillery.”
Mr Sullivan also visited the American Army Hospital war memorial in White Court, Great Notley.
