Basildon Council is cracking down on people who park in disabled bays without a blue badge.
Council bosses say the problem is especially rife in Basildon Sporting Village but it happens across the borough.
The council is now creating a Traffic Regulation Order for all of its car parks, which will make sure blue badge bays are reserved for those who need them.
David Harrison, neighbourhoods and public spaces committee chairman, said: “We are committed to ensuring that blue badge bays are reserved for those who need them.
“Officers are currently talking to those who manage these spaces on a day to day basis prior to the draft Traffic Regulation Order being published.”
Drivers incorrectly using a disabled parking bay can be fined £75.
