ADVENTURE Island bosses are spending £250,000 on extending its giant play centre.

Adventure Inside, the £5million indoor amusement park opened in 2015 and has proved hugely popular with young families.

Now, the Miller’s, the owners of Adventure Island, are spending hundreds of thousands to extend the site and create an open space for parents so they can watch their youngsters play.

It also aims to create an area where parents can enjoy a coffee and snack as the youngsters enjoy the fun facilities.

A new set of toilets is also being built.

Stockvale managing director, Marc Miller, said: “As always we never stand still in any of our businesses it’s a continuous merry go round of updating renewing or starting something new altogether.

“Our existing giant play centre has proved very successful with all the local mums and dads.

“We charge a very heavily discounted £28 yearly play pass for the entire Adventure Inside, although you can still pay on the day for a small fee.

“This has proved popular to the extent we need more room for the parents to sit and watch.

“The idea being when completed we will have created a nice comfortable space where parents can enjoy a good coffee and snacks and chat away with each other.

“Part of the extension will be dedicated loos just for play centre customers.

“By the time we have finished the total cost will be approaching £250k.

“The eventual aim will be to create an all year round attraction used by local folks and visitors alike.”

The mezzanine area aims to enhance the experience for children and parents alike.

The amusement park will now boast extra first-floor space to allow families to keep a close eye on children in the popular Play Stack, as well as providing new toilet and baby changing facilities.

It is part of a programme of investment happening throughout this summer.
