If you are a fan of Griff Rhys Jones, then don't miss out on his latest visit to Essex.

Tickets are on sale for the popular comedian’s special one-off preview show in Southend.

Griff will be preparing for his forthcoming stand-up tour, All Over the Place, with a preview show held at the Palace Theatre’s intimate Dixon Studio on Monday, August 19.

Following sell-out performances of his previous one man entertainments ‘Jones and Smith’ and ‘Where Was I?’ and a hugely-acclaimed tour of Australia and New Zealand, it’s time to join one half of Smith & Jones, one quarter of Not the Nine O’Clock News and one third of Three Men In a Boat as he presents an evening of hilarious true stories, riffs, observations and details of his recent medical procedures.

It’s all guaranteed to be packed with wicked insights into the pains of celebrity, the vicissitudes of parenthood and encounters with the great, the good and even the royal.

Although he was born in Cardiff, Griff Rhys Jones has strong Essex links. He moved to Epping with his family when he was growing up and attended the Brentwood School for a time.

In his 2007 book Semi Detached, the actor and TV presenter, speaks fondly of the county, saying: “My father had a boat moored in West Mersea for a long time and we used to take regular bus trips into Colchester, which were always like a little adventure. “We used to sail up and down most of the rivers and creeks and I suppose that’s why we have all ended up here.”

The preview show will take place on Monday, August 19, at 8pm. Tickets are £14.50. Visit southendtheatres.org.uk
