THE words, 'see me, feel me, touch me, heal me' will only mean one thing to some people. Yes, they are the famous lyrics from the song off the Who's album Tommy.

Well the same fans may be thrilled to now the album is going to be performed live by band the Goldhawks, who are heading out on a major UK theatre tour to perform it.

The tour, which kicks off in autumn, celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Who's classic album.

It will arrive at the Palace Theatre, London Road, Westcliff, on Sunday September 22.

It is promised the Who’s iconic masterpiece will be brought to life and recreated for the stage by the international eight-piece band, with "all the emotions, tension and raw power that the music demands". The show will be backed with extra-large screen projection and some archival footage of the band themselves.

Audiences can also expect a "fabulous finale", featuring bonus material of some all-time classic hits from the Who.

Tommy was first released as a double album on 17 May 1969 by Decca Records and introduced the Who to a new level of superstardom.

The album was composed by guitarist Pete Townshend and it tells the story of Tommy Walker, a "deaf, dumb and blind" boy and the trials he faces growing up, before becoming a ‘Pinball Wizard’. Featuring hits including The Acid Queen, I’m Free and See Me Feel Me, the album was a huge critical success and has since been re-released over the years, spending an incredible 126 weeks in the Billboard charts.

Goldhawks’ front man Doug Freeman is said to "faithfully recreate the extraordinary vocal range of Who lead singer Roger Daltrey". A renowned performing and recording artist in his own right, he is joined by professional musician and award-winning bass player, Dan Selway on bass guitar and vocals, together with first class session musician and West End performer, Marco Cape on lead guitar and vocals. The band’s line-up is completed by drummer Steely Thatcher, who has performed across the USA having studied in LA, renowned session musician, Kasjusz Lipkowski on saxophone and keyboards, the show’s musical director, Fabio Parisella on piano and keyboards, Ivan Williams on guitar and vocals and Colin Jones on horns and percussion.

The Goldhawks are a world-class international band, acclaimed as the world’s number one tribute to the Who, with many accolades from friends and family of the Who themselves.

Wolfy Foxlow, who toured regularly with The Who says: "It’s the closest you’ll ever get to the real thing".

Their start came after the members, who were working in various outfits, touring and meeting up once in a while, realised they were all ardent fans of the Who. From there it was an easy decision. The Goldhawks were born, and they’ve never looked back. The Goldhawks have just finished a national tour of Quadrophenia live, celebrating the seminal Mods vs Rockers Who album.
