TRAVELLERS who have pitched up at a park in Rochford have been ordered to leave.
The traveller group, consisting of five caravans and two camper vans, set up in the car park area of Cherry Orchard Jubilee Country Park in Rochford on Friday.
Today, Rochford District Council have served a "Direction to Leave" notice on the group.
A council spokesman said: "The council has been liaising with Essex Countywide Traveller Unit (ECTU) and the police in relation to this matter.
"The notice gives the group 24 hours to vacate the site.
"If they remain on site after this time an application will be made to the court for a summons."
The travellers had previously set up in the cark park of Tesco Extra in Princes Avenue, Southend, before they were moved off the site on Friday.
