Music for Mental Health featuring three local bands takes place at St Margaret’s Church, Queens Road, Ilkley on Saturday, August 17.

Organiser and former Ilkley resident, David McLennan is combining his love of music with the desire to raise money for charities that benefit those with mental health issues. Mr McLennan said: “I’ve been involved with singing with various local musical groups for many years and am now a member of Bradford-based ‘May Contain Notes’ – a four piece acoustic and acapella group. Along with the rest of the group we had the idea of putting together a concert to raise money for good causes.”

The other acts taking part in ‘Music for Mental Health’ include Shipley-based Hall Royd Brass Band who will play a combination of traditional brass band music along with classical adaptations and modern popular works and local singer-songwriter Sarah Inala who, accompanied by her husband, accomplished musician Vijay Venkat on the Bamboo Flute will play an eclectic mix of Pop and Folk.

The concert is 7pm – 9.45pm and doors open at 6.45pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance for £8 via The Grove Book Shop in Ilkley or online at www.trybooking.co.uk/KVO (there is a small additional fee when purchasing online). Tickets on the door £9. Proceeds will be divided equally between three charities, The Cellar Trust, Shelter and Young Minds who focus on helping children’s wellbeing and mental health.
