MARK Francois MP is right: before any other schemes are introduced on the A127, the Fortune of War should be straightened first.
MP: ‘Fortune of War needs to be straightened to fix A127 emissions problem'
I have taken part in the A127 consultation process, met with Basildon and County Councillors and written a report highlighting my concerns and demonstrating that the 50 mph limit will not yield the result the DFT says it will.
We already know that the 50mph limit will not work, and many readers have also highlighted this.
The issue is significant underinvestment in the A127 over generations by cross-party governments and no amount of tinkering with nominal speeds will alleviate the issue.
