ROCHFORD residents have had their council tax removed from their bank account a day early due to an "administrative error".

The error at Rochford council has caused the usual direct debit for August 20 to be removed today, leaving residents concerned for future transactions.

The council has apologised for the inconvenience.

A spokesperson from the council, said: "The 20th August direct debit for council tax and business rates has been requested from your bank a day early due to an administrative error.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused as a result. It is only this payment which has been affected, your future direct debits will be collected each month as normal.

"No other direct debit collections have been affected.

"If this has caused you any problems please contact our Revenues & Benefits team on 01702 318019 to discuss."
