A ROUTINE traffic stop resulted in £6,000 worth of drugs being discovered hidden around a motorbike.

Thurrock’s town centre team were patrolling South Ockendon when a motorbike was spotted on Saturday and was pulled over for routine checks.

Officers intercepted the bike and detained a rider while further enquiries were made.

A search resulted in a large amount of suspected class A and B drugs being seized.

A man was later arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and driving offences.

Officers estimate the haul to be worth £6,000.

Sgt Ben Forbes, who leads the Thurrock Town Centre Teams, said: “This is a fantastic result from our officers conducting proactive and highly visible patrols within our town centres.

“Unfortunately a male did not comply with our officers and due to violent behaviour, one of our officers sustained minor injuries making sure a male was successfully arrested.

“This shows our commitment to removing drugs and violence from our streets.”

A man has been charged with drug dealing and driving offences.
