A MOBILE phone shop has been raided by a gang of thieves just weeks after opening.

CCTV footage shows suspects searching Tekojin Tech Mobile Phone Repairs, in Hamstel Road, Southend.

Manager Sedat Ozturk, 33, said the staff are all very upset about the incident which he found out about after received a call to his home in Basildon from a neighbour of the shop.

He said: “It was four people and two were in the shop while the other two people watched the outside.

“They came by motorbike.

“The neighbour called me and when I saw the call I knew something had happened. I live in Basildon but was able to check the CCTV cameras in the shop.

“I could see a window and a door had been smashed. I went to the shop straight away and the police were already there, as the concerned neighbour had called them.

“I then checked what was taken and made a list and forensic officers came to take fingerprints at about 9am.

“The total amount of what was taken is about £500, and they also tried to take cash from the till but we empty the till each day.

“We are feeling heartbroken about what’s happened.

“We’ve only been open for three months and now this has happened.”

It happened at about 2am on Friday August 30.

They stole four Amazon Kindle Paperwhite tablets, one cracked Samsung S8 and a couple of other broken phones.

The manager said he and his staff work really hard to make a living and people think they can just come along and take some of this away.

He said the store is now looking to install extra safety measures.

Mr Ozturk added: “I am worried they will come back.

“This isn’t the sort of thing you expect to happen to you at your business.

“We had to close on Friday but then reopened on the Saturday.” Fixing the damage and extra security measures could cost more than £1,000.
