SOUTHEND families are being encouraged to take part in a scenic walk for charity.

Registration is now open for the Walking Together event, which is hosted by the mental health and well-being charity Trust Links.

The sponsored walk, which is set to take place on September 21, will be started by the Castle Point Mayor councillor Colin Riley at Growing Together in Thundersley.

Walking Together is suitable for all fitness levels and ages, and will take walkers 11 miles from Thundersley, through Belfair Woods and the Prittlebrook Greenway in Southend.

Mr Riley said: “This walk is a great opportunity for families to get together and support the community and raise money for Trust Links who carry out excellent work to transform the lives of people with mental health issues in Southend.”
