HUNDREDS of people attended an awards ceremony for a town council horticultural competition.

Billericay Town Council held the ceremony with 200 people gathered at the Canon Roche Social Centre, off Laindon Road, Billericay.

This is the 21st year of the competition and the judges had 55 gardens and premises to visit and judge over two days.

Among the winners on the night were Buttsbury Infant School which won the Best School Vegetable Plot Award and Quilters Primary School which won the Best School Garden Award.

Moira Moore, chairman of Billericay in Bloom congratulated the winners.

She said: “The competition is going from strength to strength in Billericay.

“Many thanks to all the entrants for their hard work and thanks also to the sponsors of the competition for their continued support.”
