AN ANNUAL garden trail event raised more than £1,000 for an island heritage centre.
Canvey Town Council held the event and invited 12 Canvey residents to open their gardens for the trail.
The event raises funds through the sales of programmes, and the sale of refreshments, plants and jams.
Alan Acott, town mayor on Canvey, said “It was a pleasure to see so many lovely gardens take part in this year’s event.
“All of the gardeners had obviously worked very hard to get them up to the high standard on display and a special thank you to all the visitors who despite the rain this year turned out in their dozens.
“The event this year raised £1013.50 for a very worthwhile charity, Canvey Heritage Centre and I would like to thank all those involved in making the event a success.”
