A car and a police vehicle have crashed in a busy road.
The incident is blocking Victoria Avenue, Southend near Southend Magistrates Court.
Emergency services including fire crews are on scene.
The ambulance and fire service have been contacted for comment.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "It was reported a police car and a Nissan Qashqai were in collision in Victoria Avenue, Southend at around 1.50pm today.
"The driver of the Qashqai has been reported for careless driving.
"If you have any information about the collision please call us on 101 quoting incident 656 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
