A PUBLIC consultation could take place into potential locations for a new Pitsea swimming pool.
Basildon Council's neighbourhoods and public spaces committee will meet next week.
Councillors will discuss progress on its playing pitch and indoor sports facility strategy at the meeting on Wednesday.
The committee is being asked to note progress on discussions between the council and the owners of Barleylands about ongoing playing pitch usage in order to safeguard playing pitch provision in the future.
They will also discuss whether to appoint consultants to undertake a site review and capacity study for the potential development of a football centre at Barleylands.
Pool provision in Pitsea is also on the agenda with committee deciding whether to authorise officers to undertake a public consultation into the potential locations.
Committee chairman David Harrison said: “It is important we look at this in respect of the Local Plan and housing growth forecasts so that we can ensure that our residents continue to have good access to leisure facilities in the borough.”
