FIREFIGHTERS tackled a car fire in a village near Selby early this morning (September 24).

A fire crew was called to the incident on a roundabout in Camblesforth at about 2.10am.

They put out the fire using one hose reel and two breathing apparatus.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Cause is believed to have been deliberate, left in hands of police."

However, a spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said: "Police made contact with the vehicle’s registered keeper and it became apparent the car had experienced an electrical fault which caused the fire."
