BIG-HEARTED NHS staff raised more than £10,000 for Cancer Research UK last weekend.

Staff walked more than 26 miles overnight at the Shine Night Walk event, which takes place organised by Cancer Research every year.

Nearly 30 staff from the Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) started up a teamed up as part of a staff challenge to be more active, mindful and give something back to the community.

The Shine Night Walk team grew as more walkers joined the group – called NHS Livewell – for the 26.2-mile event.

Caroline Rassell, Accountable Officer for Mid Essex CCG, said: “Team NHS Livewell definitely shone on the night – and continue to shine. I am so proud of the team for raising more than £10,000 for such a worthy cause.

“I know all of us found it tough at times, but we all spurred each other on and pushed on right until the end.

“There’s a great element of teamwork when doing a challenge like this.

“I think we are all sad it is over, but glad it happened.”
