'Find somewhere else to stay tonight': Police plea as Southend stand-off continues
Essex Police are appealing to residents of Longbow flats to find somewhere else to stay tonight as a stand-off continues.
Armed police were called to the flats, off Sherwood Way, this afternoon.
Essex Police say officers are "continuing to engage with a man inside a flat".
A spokesman said: "We would like to thank residents in Sherwood Way, Southend, for their patience today, Monday 30 September.
"As the situation in the block of flats continues, we are urging the residents there to seek alternative accommodation where possible.
"If you are unsure about whether or not your home is affected, please speak to South Essex Homes officers at the flats, who will be able to direct you appropriately."
