Police have found two men dead inside a property and the body of a third man in a car outside a property on Wellesley Road.

A 32-year-old man from Colchester has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Detectives have launched a murder investigation after the three men were found deceased during the early hours of Sunday, October 6.

Police were called around 10.15pm on Saturday, October 5, with concerns for the welfare of two men following reports of an altercation.

Residents say they are shocked after arriving home to find police investigation teams on their doorsteps.

Mehfil Mahmud, of Wellesley Road, said: “I came back from London around 1am expecting to get into my house, but they wouldn’t allow me and my wife to get in at all.

“I thought it must have been something very serious as they were still there later doing investigations.

“We are shocked because this road is very quiet and a great neighbourhood.

“Our road is usually very peaceful with great people.”

An Essex Police spokesman said: "Detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident, but are keeping an open mind.

They would like to speak to anyone who was in or around the Wellesley Road area between 6pm on Saturday 5 October and 1am on Sunday 6 October and witnessed any suspicious or unusual behaviour.

"Wellesley Road remains closed while enquiries continue."
