MORE than 100 businesses joined together to raise cash for a breast cancer charity and awareness of the condition.

A total of 160 businesses in Leigh created pink window displays for the third annual Leigh in Pink event supporting Lady McAdden Breast Screening Trust.

October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the businesses showed their support by taking part in the window display competition, where the firms were judged on the impressive displays.

Fundraisers - Coco Boo won the second prize in the retail category

The winners were split into five categories and Jasmine Day Spa won the beauty and hair first prize, Tea and Tuffin won the Eatery first prize award and the Cornerstone charity shop won the charity first prize, among other winners.

The best-dressed businesses were awarded £150 for first prize and £50 for second place for each category and the charity category was awarded a prize of £100.

The event raised more than £6,000 for the charity.

Liz Storey, operations director, at the charity said: “The businesses of Leigh looked amazing.

“We were so impressed by the amount of support and the effort that the local businesses put into making their windows pink.

“It was a hard job for the judges, as there were so many fantastic window displays.

“We’re very grateful for the support of Leigh.”
