THERE are severe delays on c2c rail services this morning after a trespasser invaded the roof of a platform.

Rail company c2c is warning of severe disruption across its network this morning due to a police incident at Southend Central Station.

Lines were blocked earlier this morning shortly before 5am, with reports online saying that a person was on the roof of platform one and two of the station.

Power to the overhead cables at the station were turned off as a precaution while the British Transport Police try to remove the person who was still on the roof at 5.30am.

By 6.30am, the lines were reopen and trains were running again.

However, commuters reported online that the trains were completely full and many passengers were left on the platforms when trains departed.

A c2c spokesman said: "The overhead power lines in the area have now been turned back on.

"This means trains can leave Shoeburyness depot, where the majority of c2c’s fleet is stored overnight. Trains can also now serve stations in the Southend area.

"However disruption to c2c services will continue throughout the morning peak as a result of the delays already caused.

"We are very sorry for the impact this has on your journey this morning. Ticket acceptance remains in place with Greater Anglia and TfL Rail."
