A CRASH has closed a road in Thorpe Bay.
Two cars have been involved in the crash on Thorpe Esplanade near the junction with Lynton Road.
Pictures from the scene show emergency services near the two vehicles, one of which has sustained serious damage.
Witnesses at the scene say two people were taken away in an ambulance.
The road remains closed while the debris is cleared.
An ambulance service spokesman said: "Three ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance officer vehicle were called to a road traffic collision at Burges Terrace, Thorpe Bay shortly after 1.30pm today.
"Two women were transported to Southend University Hospital for further assessment and care."
Essex Police stated no one had been seriously injured.
