An investigation has been launched after a young man was stabbed in the buttock near a train station.
The victim was attacked with broken glass bottles near to Rayleigh Train Station in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
His furious mum claims passersby left her son covered in blood after the incident.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called to reports that a man had been stabbed in the buttock near to Rayleigh train station shortly after 12.30am this morning, Wednesday 27 November.
"The victim was approached by five people, described as being in their late teens, who assaulted him and then walked towards Station Avenue.
"It is believed that the victim was attacked with a glass bottle and a wooden plank.
"A thorough search of the area was carried out and our enquiries are ongoing.
"Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and quote the crime reference number 42/187884/19."
