ORGANISERS of a vegan festival in Colchester say it is set to be a sell-out event.

The Essex Vegan Winter Festival from Vegan Events UK is taking place this Saturday.

There will be more than 80 stalls, world food caterers, exciting cookery demonstrations, inspirational talks, interactive workshops, yoga and children's activities running throughout the day.

The festival features the latest gourmet vegan cheeses, vegan hotdogs, beauty products and fashion.

It will take place at Charter Hall in Cowdray Avenue from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

Festival organiser Victoria Bryceson said: “Essex Vegan Winter Festival is set to be a fantastic day out whether you’re vegetarian, vegan or simply vegan-curious.

"The idea behind the festival is to educate and inform everyone about the vegan lifestyle and offer support to anybody who would like it.

"We have everything an aspiring vegan could possibly need and so much more.

"Our festival has a welcoming, friendly atmosphere and makes a fun, affordable day out for families.

"It’s also a nice social atmosphere and makes a great place to make new friends.”

She added: “My aim is to provide a one stop shop for vegan essentials as well as fun treats you might not be able to find in the shops such as Christmas cake, mince pies, vegan roasts and other vegan Christmas goodies."

The event also helps homeless people, whilst helping reduce food waste at the same time.

Stall holders are asked to donate any surplus food at the end of the festival, and a group of volunteers distributes it to homeless people in Colchester after the event.

Entry is from £3 and standard tickets can be bought at the door on the day.

VIP tickets, which are £15, include fast track entry and a goody bag full of vegan products, samples, discounts and offers.
