A Whitehaven driver, who was caught behind the wheel with cannabis in her system, has been banned.

Palmeira Marie Rafferty, 43, of Derwentwater Road, pleaded guilty to drug-driving before magistrates in Workington.

The court heard Rafferty was driving a Land Rover Freelander on Chapel Close, Whitehaven, on June 22, when the incident occurred.

She was found to have 5.9mcg of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol in a litre of blood. The legal limit is 2mcg.

Rafferty has been banned from driving for 14 months and fined £120. She must also pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
