POLICE have arrested six people after the force carried out an early morning raid in Basildon.
Officers from the Basildon Town Centre team arrested the group yesterday, at approximately 6.30am, near to Thorrington Cross, Basildon.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Two men have been charged with theft from shops after a warrant was executed by officers from Basildon Town Centre Team.
"Richard King, 36, of no fixed address, was charged with nine counts of theft and James Coleman, 31, of Maplestead, Basildon, was charged with two counts of theft.
"They are both due to appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court today, Thursday 12 December.
"A 47-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods have been released on bail until Wednesday 8 January.
"A 47-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods has been released under investigation.
"A teenage boy arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a cannabis has been released under investigation."
