POLICE have launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed to death in the early hours of this morning.

Pictures from the scene show police focusing their efforts inside and just outside a terraced house, in Tintern Avenue, Westcliff.

A window on the first floor of the home appears to have been broken, with evidence of damage below in, close to the front door.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We have launched a murder investigation after a man was found with stab wounds at a property in Westcliff this morning.

Forensics - specialist officers are at the scene

"We were called at around 4.25am with reports of a disturbance at an address in Tintern Avenue.

Probe - officers are going door to door in Tintern Avenue, Westcliff

"We attended and we discovered a man with stab wounds to his body.

Blocked - there are a number of cordons in place

"Despite the efforts of paramedics, the man sadly died of his injuries at the scene.

"We continue to make enquiries to establish the circumstances around the man’s death and the individuals involved."
